Wednesday, November 25, 2009 saw the hosting of a Parenting Workshop by the Voluntary Organization for Uplifting Children (VOUCH) under the theme: "Parent the Right Way, Read with Your Child Everyday".
Held at the VOUCH complex at National Heroes Circle, the workshop targeted parents and guardians, and aimed to share useful information on parenting in today's changing world. Participating organizations, which made presentations on proper parenting skills and techniques, included the Early Childhood Commission, under the Ministry of Education; Coalition for Better Parenting; and the Child Development Agency. The Jamaica Library Service wowed the audience with their wide range of colourful books to stimulate early learning, while the Environmental Health Foundation gave an overview of their latest children's educational publication: "The Wellness Alphabet Book", which seeks to introduce children to concepts of "wellness" such as eating healthy, exercising and practicing proper hygiene.
